Inquiring, “How are you?” the question sails,
“I’m fine,” my response, a delicate veil
Perceiving a courteous guise, a fleeting masquerade,
For when truth emerges, their interest will fade.
They urge brevity, seeking respite.

Silently, I now utter, “I’m okay”,
Though within, a yearning seeks its own way,
Craving an ear that listens, truly hears and care,
Asks, “How do you truly feel? Lay it bare,
I yearn to fathom your essence and bask in understanding’s light.

No judgments to burden, no shackles to bind,
Just a soul, yearning to understand and find
The depths of your being, emotions outpour,
A sanctuary of trust where they can explore.
“Pour it on me,” they whisper, compassionate and kind.
